EARMA network BESTPRAC Days: the MER model in the spotlight at European level

Laurine Tiran, European Project Manager (EPM) and member of the EPM network run by Mission Europe for Research (MER), is also part of the European EARMA network thanks to the networking and expertise-sharing scheme supported by MER. Working closely with the MER as part of the European projects she supports, she took part in the BESTPRAC thematic days, held on 28 and 29 October 2026 in Split, Croatia, on the theme ‘Joining the Dots: The Collaborative Power of Research Management’.

These sessions were dedicated to collaboration and the sharing of expertise in the field of research management. Discussions focused in particular on ways to strengthen links between stakeholders, practices and services that contribute to the support of research projects.

EARMA (European Association of Research Managers and Administrators) is the European network for professionals in research management and administration. BESTPRAC is one of its thematic groups. It promotes the exchange of best practice and the sharing of expertise, particularly in the administrative, financial and legal aspects of research projects.

On this occasion, Laurine Tiran presented the organisation and functioning of the Mission Europe for Research (MER), highlighting its model of shared services across the Aix-Marseille campus. This presentation raised awareness of the organisation amongst the European research management community and facilitated discussion on how it operates.

This European outreach forms part of the activities of the EPM (European Project Managers) network, coordinated by the MER and funded by Amidex. This network brings together professionals who support European projects at the Aix-Marseille site. It aims to strengthen their skills, encourage the sharing of experiences and foster exchanges with their European counterparts.

The MER’s presentation during these BESTPRAC days thus helps to raise the profile of its collaborative model and to establish its place within a European community of professionals committed to sharing and developing research management practices.
